Fermilab's Integrated Quality Assurance program will ensure that the processes used by our employees are the most efficient and effective processes possible. Between February and April 2009, quality-assurance representatives met with employees across the laboratory to do an as-is assessment of processes and quality controls that we use for our work. With employees' help, quality-assurance teams determined corrective actions that will improve these processes. We are now implementing these action items.
From Sept. 14-18, an assessment team with members from DOE and DOE national laboratories met with employees to assess the implementation phase of Fermilab's Integrated Quality Assurance program. The PowerPoint presentation with the remarks of the closeout session is available online.
Here is a new acronym to learn: IQA, for Integrated Quality Assurance. It parallels the name Integrated Safety Management, the systematic approach we use in managing safety.
In an all-hands meeting on Sept. 9, 2009, Fermilab Director Pier Oddone outlined the goals and the implementation of Integrated Quality Assurance at Fermilab.
