"Superconductivity is a magic potion, an elixir to rejuvenate old accelerators and open new vistas for the future."
Former Fermilab Director Robert Wilson,
Physics Today, October 1977.

Workers in 1980 assembled the “Fermilab Kit” for making superconducting wire: a copper can filled with 2,100 niobium-titanium rods in hexagonal copper tubes, capped with a tail piece and a nose piece.
