Cosmic Rays

Cosmic rays are charged particles that strike the earth. Victor Hess discovered the cosmic ray in 1912 and was latter awarded a Nobel prize. The theory is that supernova explosions give the particles their energy. Experiments use cosmic ray events to test their detectors.
