Operation Summary for March 7, 2011 - March 9, 2011

Monday March 7

The day shift began with the Tevatron (TEV) A-E enclosures, Linac, Booster , the Antiproton Source (Pbar) rings, and the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) in access. Due to ComEd high voltage testing, the Fermi accelerator complex began a shutdown.

During the day shift, Operations reported a scheduled Kautz Road Substation power outage in order to back-feed power to the Main Injector (MI) from the Master Substation. Operations monitored systems.

During the evening shift, Operations reported that TEV personnel had started the magnet roll measurements; this is done to see if the magnet had tilted in any way since its last alignment. Operations monitored systems.

Tuesday March 8

The midnight shift began with shutdown in progress.

During the midnight shift, Operations monitored systems.

During the day shift, Operations reported that FESS personnel replaced a breaker for the TEV sector D3 Motor Control Center. Controls personnel rebooted the Java engines. Interlock technicians tested the safety systems for the F sector manholes and the Pbar AP0 vault enclosure. CUB personnel reported that they would be turning on and off the tower pumps and Booster 95 LCW pumps for maintenance. Electron Cooling (ECool) personnel turned on the Pelletron high voltage. Operations reported that the work on the AP0 target hall ventilation system would be ongoing. Operations monitored systems.

During the evening shift, Waterworks Group personnel reported that they had filled the MI-62 system. ECool personnel turned off the Pelletron. Operators worked on the TEV magnet roll measurements. Operations monitored systems.

Wednesday March 9

The midnight shift began with the shutdown in progress.

During the midnight shift, Operators search and secured MI-8, MI-1, MI-4, and MI-60 for safety system testing. Operations monitored systems.

The Plans for Wednesday

The plans for today are to continue with shutdown work.
