Operation Summary for October 13, 2010 - October 15, 2010 |
Wednesday Oct. 13 The day shift began with Operations monitoring the Tevatron (TeV) store 8171 (142.85E30) and the Antiproton Source (Pbar) stack (120.8E10), with the Linac, Booster, and the Main Injector (MI) off and in access, with NuMI off for target work, with the MiniBooNE experiment off and in access, and with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) and D-Zero (D0) using the colliding beams. During the day shift, Operations reported that the MI, Booster, MI-8, and the Pbar AP1-3 access ran throughout the shift. During the evening shift, Operations reported that everyone was out of access by 6:28 PM. Pbar resumed stacking at 7:28 PM, but a Linac RF station (LRF1) driver contactor problem halted beam at 8:53 PM. A Linac technician came in to investigate. Thursday Oct. 14 The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 8171 (13.4E30), the stash (103.4E10), and the Pbar stack (33.1E10), and with MiniBooNE off due to the Linac RF work. During the midnight shift, the LRF1 work ended at 3:39 AM. Operations terminated store 8171 at 5:14 AM, put the TeV into HEP shot setup, and established store 8172 at 6:45 AM with an average initial luminosity (AIL) of 157.7E30. The TeV aborted at 7:30 AM due to a TeV sector E3 dump failure. During the day shift, operators prepared the TeV A through E sectors for access at 8:55 AM. Operators also prepared TeV F-Sector for access at 10:55 AM, which halted stacking. Stacking resumed at 12:37 PM. During the evening shift, operators worked on the TeV turn-on and checkout until 7:41 PM. Operations then put the TeV into shot setup and established store 8174 at 10:57 PM with an AIL of 236.52E30. Friday Oct. 15 The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 8174 (126.05E30) and the stash (131.1E10), with Pbar stacking (25.9E10), and with MiniBooNE taking beam. During the midnight shift, Operations monitored the machines. The Plans for Friday and the Weekend The plans for today are to stack, stash, and store. |
