Operation Summary for September 9, 2009 - September 11, 2009 |
Wednesday Sept 9 Startup continued. MiniBooNE took beam when it was available. During the day shift, MiniBooNE users took beam until 12:30 PM when a Main Injector (MI) access to check vacuum equipment inhibited their beam. This access lasted throughout the day shift. Tevatron (TeV) cool down and accesses continued. During the evening shift, the MI access finished early in shift, but MiniBooNE beam was held off due to a Linac/Booster energy matching problem until 10 PM. After the MI access a power supply ramp was established. TeV power supply checkouts lasted late into the evening shift. Thursday Sept 10 Startup continued. MiniBooNE took beam when it was available. During the midnight shift, MiniBooNE users took beam smoothly until 6:30 AM when MI was prepared for an access to remove vacuum equipment. MI, Pbar, and TeV power supplies were monitored throughout the shift. During the day shift, MI was off for TeV safety system tests until 1 PM. 8 GeV beam was established in MI by 2 PM and 120 GeV beam followed shortly afterwards. Beam was established in Recycler by 3:30 PM. MiniBooNE users took beam from 1 PM on; they were held off earlier by the MI access. During the evening shift, beam was established to the Antiproton Source (Pbar) Accumulator by 6 PM, and tuning continued on MI and Recycler beam as well throughout the shift. The TeV bus was powered by 5:30 PM with power supply checkouts lasting throughout the rest of the evening. MiniBooNE users took beam throughout the shift. Friday Sept 11 Startup continues. MiniBooNE took beam when it was available. During the midnight shift, Recycler and Pbar were left with a circulating proton beam throughout the midnight shift. The Tevatron sat with no beam, but current on its bus. MiniBooNE users took beam until 6 AM, which was when the MI-8 line studies began. The Plans for Friday and the Weekend MI will continue to tune and hopefully send beam to NuMI and TeV later today. The weekend will consist of tuning on all machines. |
