Accelerator Update for May 6, 2009 - May 8, 2009

Wednesday May 6

The day shift began with Operations monitoring the Recycler stash (379.6E10), with the Antiproton Source stacking (25.9E10), with the Linac, Booster, and Main Injector (MI) operating normally, with the Meson MTest, MiniBooNE, and NuMI experiments taking beam, and with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) and D-Zero (D0) experiments in access.

D0 and CDF accesses were completed by 4:17 PM.

MTest beam was turned off at 6:03 PM.

Operations put the TeV into HEP shot setup and established store 7026 at 9:05 PM with an initial luminosity of 323.06E30.

The Booster West Anode supply tripped off at 9:58 PM. BRF11 caused the trip and will need its regulator replaced. Experts were called and decided to access the Booster to fix problems with BRF8 and BRF17. BRF 11 will remain off until tomorrow.

Experts repaired BRF8 and BRF17 and beam was established at 11:15 PM.

Thursday May 7

The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 7026 (193.3E30) and the stash (270.8E10), and with Pbar stacking (13.9E10).

Beam was established to MTest at 4:05 AM.

Beam was turned off at 8:29 AM for repairs to Linac RF station 4 (LRF4). An access to MI-65 was also made at this time to work on dehumidifiers in the NuMI target hall. Booster was also set up for controlled access.

LRF4 repair and all accesses were completed and beam was established at 3:00 PM.

Operations terminated store 7026 at 3:50 PM.

Operations established store 7027 at 6:00 PM with an initial luminosity of 324.18E30.

Friday May 8

The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 7027 (138.94E30) and the stash (277.8E10), and with Pbar stacking (13.8E10).

Beam was established to MTest at 4:05 AM.

Operations terminated store 7027 at 4:36 AM.

Operations established store 7028 at 5:56 AM with an initial luminosity of 318.80E30.

The Plan for the Weekend

The plan is to stack, stash, and store.
