Accelerator Update for May 4, 2009 - May 6, 2009 |
Monday May 4 The day shift began with Operations monitoring the Tevatron (TeV) store 7019 (217.9E30) and the Recycler stash (78.3E10), with the Antiproton Source stacking (20.1E10), with the Linac, Booster, and Main Injector (MI) operating normally, with the Meson MTest, MiniBooNE, and NuMI experiments taking beam, and with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) and D-Zero (D0) experiments using the colliding beams. At 10:35 AM, beam was turned off to all machines while Linac techs worked on LRF2. Beam returned at 11:23 AM. At 2:48 PM, beam was turned off again to all machines while Linac techs replaced the low level RF card for LRF2. Beam returned at 3:28 PM. NuMI was turned off at 5:03 PM. An access was made into MI-65 to repair one of the two dehumidifiers that were not working. At 10:02 PM, beam was established to NuMI. Operations terminated store 7019 at 10:47 PM. Tuesday May 5 The midnight shift began with Operations in shot setup and with MiniBooNE and NUMI taking beam. Operations established store 7020 at 12:24 AM with an initial luminosity of 317.40E30. Beam was established to MTest at 4:00 AM. The belt on the NuMI dehumidifier failed again and MI-65 was prepared for access at 2:13 PM. Beam was turned off to NuMI. Operations terminated store 7020 at 2:37 PM. Operations put the TeV into HEP shot setup and established store 7021 at 5:48 PM with an initial luminosity of 303.31E30. MTest was turned off at 6:00 PM. MI-65 access was completed and beam was established to NuMI at 7:22 PM. Wednesday May 6 The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 7021 (132.19E30) and the stash (211.6E10), and with Pbar stacking (15.8E10). Beam was established to MTest at 4:07 AM. Operations terminated store 7021 at 6:48 AM. D0 and CDF were prepared for access at 7:00 AM. The D0 access is needed to address a bad power supply inside the cathedral and is expected to take 8 hours. The Plans for Wednesday The plans for today are to stack and stash, and put in a Tev store after the D0 and CDF accesses are finished. |
