Thirty-five Fermilab employees Receive Employee Performance Recognition Awards

On August 3, thirty-five employees received Employee Performance Recognition Awards. Fermilab Director Pier Oddone presented award certificates at 4:30 p.m. on the Wilson Hall Crossover. "My favorite activity is to recognize outstanding performance," said Oddone. "We are doing that today with a group of individuals that have gone beyond their duties and done something great. They contribute mightily to build this great institution."

Dean Hoffer is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for outstanding work in preparing Fermilab's special report on Civilian Nuclear Infrastructure and Facilities.

Robert J. Lootens is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for his accomplishments during twelve years of volunteer service as Chairman of the Ecological Land Management Committee.

Ioanis Kourbanis is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for outstanding leadership of the Main Injector Department that resulted in increased luminosity for the Tevatron Collider and the very successful commissioning and operation of the NuMI beam.

Award Certificate: Raymond Lewis is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for his role in coordinating the OSHA inspection scheduled, coordinating and tracking the division OSHA findings to completion.

Alberto Marchionni is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for leadership of the Main Injector Department, and in particular for his efforts in the successful commissioning of the NuMI beam.

Ruth Pordes is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for leadership and tireless work on the Open Science Grid where she was recently elected the Executive Director.

Brian Yanny is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for numerous contributions to the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, including his co-leadership of the SEGUE working group, his many contributions to data processing, including the Catalog Archive Server, and his science discoveries of structures in the halo of the Milky Way Galaxy.

Carlos Hojvat is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for serving as Deputy Project Manager of the Auger Project for the past ten years. His accomplishments in building up the staff and in developing an administrative structure have been major contributions to the success of the Auger Project.

Paul MacKenzie is awarded an Employee Performance Recognition Award for his dedicated and effective leadership and management of the internationally recognized Fermilab Lattice Gauge Theory collaboration. This has brought significant resources into the laboratory.
