Operation Terminology

Main Injector

The Main Injector is a circular ring seven times the circumference of the Booster and slightly more than half the circumference of the Tevatron. It accelerates 8 GeV protons from the Booster to either 120 GeV or 150 GeV, depending on their destination. When used to stack antiprotons, the final energy is 120 GeV. When used to inject into the Tevatron, the final beam energy is 150 GeV.
