Booster

The Booster is the first circular accelerator, or synchrotron, in the chain of accelerators. It consists of a series of magnets arranged around a 75-meter radius circle. It takes 400 MeV negative hydrogen ions from the Linac and strips the electrons off, which leaves only the proton. It accelerates the protons to 8 GeV.
