The Fermilab Community Advisory Board brings together interested residents from the laboratory’s neighboring communities. Established in fall 2009, the Board grew out of two former task forces, one charged with developing the laboratory’s overall approach to public participation and one offering specific input on a proposed linear accelerator project.

The Fermilab Community Advisory Board meets every two months and provides ongoing advice and guidance related to the future of the laboratory. The Board gives feedback on proposed new projects, reviews planned construction activities, advises Fermilab on all forms of public participation, and acts as a liaison with local organizations and communities. Potential members apply or are recommended for membership. Board members serve two year terms or are appointed by a local Mayor to serve as a Designated Community Representative.

All Community Advisory Board meetings are open to the public. Members of the public wishing to attend should contact edreg@fnal.gov at least two weeks before the meeting. The 2024 meeting dates are: January 25, March 28, May 23, July 25, September 26, and November 21.

Meetings usually start at 6:30 p.m. and last two hours. Meeting agendas and notes are posted here. For more information, please email edreg@fnal.gov.
