Rates for Rental Vehicles as of March 7, 2008

Pro-Rate: After one month, daily rate will be pro-rated at 1/30 of the monthly rate.

Mileage: Above rates include 100 free miles per day. Excess mileage will be billed at .10 cents per mile.

Leaving the State of Illinois requires written permission in advance unless you are planning on staying within 150 miles of Fermilab.

Gas is not included. Gasoline will be billed at the rate of $4.00 per 1/8 tank, $5.00 per 1/8 tank for the Nissan Altima, or $.12 per mile if gasoline was not added during the rental.

Tolls: DO NOT go through a toll area without paying. They take your picture. Rentor receives a delayed fine of $20 per incidence. Rentor will add a $15 service charge for handling any fines. Usually, the coin lanes are on the right. Interstate 88 is a toll road.

Parking Tickets are solely the responsibility of the Rentee. Tickets must be paid promptly and directly to the issuing entity. Rentor receives a delayed notice of parking tickets. Usually a large penalty is assessed. Rentor will add a $15 service charge for handling any unpaid tickets. Accidents must be reported to Rentor immediately. Obtain all information from the other party. Fill out accident report in glove box. Make no statements as to fault.

Insurance: $50,000/100,000 liability, $50,000 property damage and zero deductible collision damage is included in the rate. Rentee who declines the full collision coverage will receive a $50.00 per month credit if the Rentor is provided with a valid insurance policy. In this case, Rentee will be responsible for all damage to the rental vehicle.

Road Hazards are not insured by the Rentor. Rentee will be responsible for damage to windshields, tires and rims from hitting curbs or potholes and any careless damage to interior or exterior of the vehicle.

Maintenance: Mechanical repairs on the road will be covered by the Rentor; however, the Rentee must receive prior approval from the Rentor. Without prior approval, the Rentor will only reimburse the Rentee at a rate deemed reasonable by the Rentor. All reimbursable mechanical repairs must have receipts. If the Rentor cannot replace a disabled vehicle within 24 hours, Rentee may obtain a replacement vehicle. Rentor will be responsible for the expenses incurred by the Rentee only up to the amount the Rentor is charging the Rentee. Return of Vehicle to Fermilab is the responsibility of the Rentee in case of accident or mechanical breakdown.

Payment may be made through FNAL travel code, by direct billing to the University, by personal check or by cash.

Drivers Under 21 are allowed if they are sponsored Fermilab students or interns. There is an additional charge of $1.00 per day or $30.00 per month.
