New DOE Requirements Mean New Badges for ALL Fermilab Users Frequently Asked Questions What should I do if my visa status changes? Reporting Changes in Visa Status Will I be able to access my experiment if I arrive after-hours or on the weekends when the Key & ID office is closed? Users' Guidelines for Off-Hours Access to Fermilab Do I need to renew my Fermilab ID in person or may it be done remotely? The new DOE requirements mean that all Users must apply and/or renew their Fermilab IDs in person at the Users' office. Many visiting scientists make frequent visits to the lab every couple of months. Do we need to obtain a new VV pass on each visit? We also often arrive on weekends or after-hours when the Key & ID office is closed. What type of measures are you taking to enable visiting scientists to have short-term visits and weekend/after-hours arrivals?
The I-94 determines your status in the United States, and your badge end date is determined by the I-94 expiration date. We recognize that this raises many logistical problems for visiting scientists who arrive on weekends/after-hours who need a badge in order to have access to their experiments. We appreciate your patience, and Fermilab will solve all of these issues by April 4.
I am a U.S. permanent resident and have a green card instead of a visa and I-94 form. Do the new DOE requirements for foreign visitors apply to green card holders too? If you are a "green card" holder, you must follow the procedure as outlined in order to obtain your new badge. Copies will be made of your green card instead of the visa and I-94 form. Will my computer account expire when the badge expires? No, your computer account will retain its original expiration date and in the future will be renewed via the previous rules. Thirty days prior to the expiration date, you will receive the first in a series of four email messages reminding you that you need to renew your computer account before it expires. |
