Overview

Fermilab’s Co-Op Program provides undergraduates with the opportunity to be integrally involved in the development and operation of the laboratory for individual exploration and project work. Our program supports a theory/practice model of learning in which students apply what they learn as undergraduates at their home institutions to projects vital to our lab’s scientific mission.

We encourage applications from students with majors and interests in chemistry/chemical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering/science, and environment/safety/health. Academic standing as a sophomore is required to participate in Fermlab’s Co-Op Program. Students typically work a minimum of three semesters or four quarters at Fermilab, alternating periods of full-time study at their schools with full-time employment at the laboratory.
