MINOS Experiment
Neutrinos may account for as much mass as all the stars in our universe - or for almost none at all. To solve this puzzling question, scientists will measure the properties of the NuMI neutrino beam that goes from Fermilab through the earth to a mine in Soudan, Minnesota - no tunnel needed. Physicists have already produced a prototype detector. The full-scale experiment will begin in 2005.
