Contemporary Art - Provided by William Bigham Galleries

William Bigham Galleries

William H. Bigham opened his GALLERIES on January 17, 2003 in the Westfield Fox Valley Mall, Aurora, Illinois. In this 4500-square foot space, creative quality arts are highlighted in a warm and friendly environment. In addition to offering artwork for sale, the gallery also provides a wide range of personalized services: such as hosting private conferences, meetings, and receptions, as well as providing personalized interior design consultation.

The gallery's main focus was to continually increase consumer awareness and knowledge of acquiring and collecting fine art.

William has been collecting and studying arts and antiques since 1982. In this gallery, his second, he showcases the works of multiple artists, as well as authentic African artifacts in a unique setting. His previous gallery, The African Home Gallery, was highlighted in several issues of Chicago Home & Garden and Jet magazines, as well as ethnichome.com.

Rodriguez J. Hill - Artist Statement

As a youth growing up in the urban city, I discovered through my teenage years that I had the ability to create works of art that were uplifting and meaningful to others. During this time, I was hesitant to showcase my work for fear of rejection in the art community. In June 1976, I enrolled at the Selma Burke School of Fine Arts in Pittsburgh. By age 15, I had completed two years and subsequently transferred to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh from June 1978 through June 1979. By this time I had developed a mentor relationship with a noted artist from the community and it was through his positive encouragement that I recognized my talent and potential. I also had the luxury of enhancing my design and sculpture skills by creating clay models while working for my father, Frank J. Hill II, at his design and casting company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The family business was known as the Hilday Statuary Company and was operated from 1972 to 1980. Over the past several years I have been featured in numerous art exhibitions with some of Chicago and New York's most noted artists, including Bruce B. Jefferson, Andy Kane, Cliff Wirth and Kirby Briske. Collectors include Maudelynn Ihejirika, William H. Bigham, Ben Vereene and many Chicagoland celebrities. My technique varies from Impressionism to Cubism, and I can best describe my more recent paintings as seasoned.

Bruce Bernard Jefferson

My art can best be described as contemporary and spirit-filled, with great emotion. In 1973, I enrolled at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1977. As I further developed my talent, I evolved my own sacred style called "Alchamis." This consists of spirit, mixing color and doing what I like best -- then it becomes truly "MINE."

My love for art moved me to open and manage my own gallery, Studio B, from 1991 to 1999. At Studio B, the paintings were strictly my own. During my career, I have been featured in numerous solo art exhibitions in many galleries.
