Mucool Minutes 9/4/98 1. Steve Geer called the meeting to order and presented three items of News. a) We should soon learn who is on the editorial board for the collaboration. b) A draft of a letter exists from J. Peoples, T. Kirk, and P. Odone to DOE proposing a means of general oversight for the Muon Collider Collaboration. c) Dan Kaplan has been offered a visiting appointment at Fermilab to work on the liquid Hydrogen absorbers for mucool. 2. Dave Neuffer reported on theory at the recent meeting at BNL. Progress was reported in matching beta versus momentum in the cooling system, leading to improved cooling. In addition to discussing individual papers he described a "do list" for theory and a list of needed tools. 3. Kevin Lee reported preliminary attempts to run Geant at UCLA on his work station. He expects to have some results in two weeks. 4. Steve Geer reported on experimental talks at the recent BNL meeting. He stated that real hardware has begun, the integration of components in the cooling experiment has begun, Li lens R&D has begun, and the beam line design is under study. He gave a brief resume of 23 papers given.
