Hi! I just relocated up to the lab this past May, and since then it seems that about every week I'm astounded over and over again by the depth and brilliance of the scientific community we are all lucky to be a part of. I want to contribute to that community as best I can, and a GSA officer position seems the perfect forum. As a new researcher fortunate enough to be simultaneously involved in both hardware development for a young experiment and meaningful analysis on a well-established project, I am already personally involved in much of the neutrino student community. If elected I look forward forward to broadening my involvement through the planning and execution of various GSA activities designed to strengthen inter-experiment and inter-disciplinary graduate student ties. We really are at the best place in the world for physics research, so let's make it better together!

The GSA is a place to meet the other grad students that are here at the lab. That is why I think it is important that the GSA keeps organising reasons to get together and meet people you might not meet otherwise. Everybody enjoys hanging out at the BBQs with free burgers during the summer months and having drinks at the regular pub nights when it is too chilly outside. So I will make sure they keep happening. As you all know Chicagoland is an exciting place to live with many things to do. I think that the GSA is an excellent place to meet people to do these things with and exchange ideas what are the must do's.
See you all at the meet and greet!

FNAL has a lot of intelligent young adults with diverse interests, curiosity about the world, and limited free time: graduate students. I want to be a GSA officer to support the social framework that brings us together and gives us opportunities to meet new people and make merry mayhem with them. I think it's important for graduate students to have some sense of community and FNAL and means to address their needs and concerns, so I'd like to take an active role in maintaining that.

I would like to be a Graduate Student Association (GSA) representative to share my ideas, time, and relay graduate concerns to the lab on behalf of the students here. While on campus in graduate school, I often took advantage of the activities the graduate organization offered. However, after spending time away at CERN, where there was no such group, I now realize the extent to which I value a group like the GSA. I would like to have this unique opportunity to give something back to the community that has served me so well.

It is my goal as a member of the Fermilab GSA to be a active advocate for all graduate students at the lab. Grad students have a unique role at the laboratory, and as such we have a unique set of concerns. I want to voice these concerns to the directorate, and work with them to create solutions. I believe I can be a positive force for the graduate student community here at Fermilab, and show the older generation of scientists why it is important, and worthwhile, to invest in the younger generation.

Becoming a FNAL GSA officer is the next step in my plan for total world domination. On a more serious note, I am a spunky, hard working, and organized person, and I believe these attributes will allow me to be of service to the GSA. The main reason I want to become an officer is to help make life at the lab fun for all our peers. This would mean working to organize the picnics, parties, and pub nights that GSA currently offers and possibly adding new types of events. I also intend to use my outgoing personality to try to make the new (and reclusive) members of our ever-changing community feel included. Another important part of improving lab life, is listening to your concerns and trying to help. While I love to talk, I am also very willing listener. So if you are looking for someone to be your voice and do the hard work to make your life at the lab fun, then I am a safe bet.

I want to be a GSA officer because I feel that the GSA plays a key role in the experience of all Fermilab graduate students. Building strong friendships and bonds during our time at Fermilab is vital, and the GSA provides a great outlet for that. In my 2+ years at Fermilab, I have made many friends, most of which I met at GSA events. As a GSA officer, I would ensure that the quality of events and the integrity of the organization remain high, and I would work hard to further improve the Fermilab graduate student experience.

Thanks to the GSA, I'll be able to tell my grandchildren more about Fermilab than just physics: tales of Halloween parties, pub-nights, barbeques, sport plus more. This year's officers did a great job, and I'd commit to ensuring that the GSA continues to provide a useful and fun service to the students in the next 12 months. I'm not proposing any radical new activities from the GSA, just a more regular programme of the simple social events, like pub and user-center nights in the Winter, and barbeques in the Summer. Of course I'm open to, and willing to work on new ideas, but lets start with a stronger base of what has proven to be popular in the past years.
