The elementary school age children on site attend the Currier School at 800 Gary's Mill Rd., West Chicago, IL - phone number (630) 293-6600. This is a small school in a good residential neighborhood. Currently, there is a fee of $44/year for Kindergarten, and $52/year for grades 1-6, although you should call for current prices. The number of children in a class averages 25 to 30. Many of the children on site begin the school year unable to speak English. Consequently, there is an English as a Second Language program in the nearby public schools, and the teachers are generally understanding and helpful.
Please note that the school will need proof of residence on Fermilab site, so when you register, be sure to take along a letter from housing declaring that you are living on-site. In addition, take any records from previous schools (e.g. immunizations) and a birth certificate or a passport for the child.
Children of families living in the small towns around Fermilab must attend the school in whose district they live.
