+----------------------------------------------------------+ | |+ | The GSA Presents || | A Tour of FOCUS !! || | Tuesday, March 3, 5:00 pm. || | || +----------------------------------------------------------+| +----------------------------------------------------------+ Next stop on the GSA tour train is going to be the Wide Band Lab experiment FOCUS. FOCUS is dedicated to investigating topics in charm physics, including, but not limited to, high precision studies of semileptonic charm decays, double charm QCD events, and properties of D mesons. Will Johns will be our tour guide. FOCUS may be the most tucked away site we've visited with the GSA love bus, so here goes with the directions. The experiment is located at the end of the proton line on road C, which dead ends into the FCC parking lot at one end and into the Wide Band Lab at the other. If you're a collider joker like me who doesn't know exactly which line is the proton line, here's what looks to be the easiest way to get there, from an obvious landmark: the 4-way flashing red at Eola and Batavia. Proceed North on Eola until you get to the first left. You will be on Road C West. Follow this road until you have an opportunity to turn left (right in front of DONUT). This short road dead ends and you will turn left (if, in fact, you are hoping to see FOCUS). You'll be going roughly north on Road C. This road empties into the parking lot of the Wide Band Lab. Meet us outside in the parking lot of the Wide Band Lab around 5 o'clock, and the tour will commence shortly thereafter. Hope to see you there. --- Kevin P. Davis for the GSA
