Abstract:
We now have several detailed modeling tools for the Booster in both longitudinal and transverse motions throughout the entire acceleration cycle, such as STRUCT, ORBIT, ESME, etc. They are bench marked against the FermiLab Booster beam loss at the injection, emittance growth at the transition, and momentum spread reduction at the extraction, and we obtained a good agreement between experiment and simulation. We are in the process of implementing simulation results to operational procedures to reduce the injection loss, the momentum spread and the emittance at the extraction.
