Title:
"Measuring Neutrino Oscillations in MINOS Using the Beam Matrix Method"
Abstract:
MINOS is a long baseline two detector neutrino oscillation experiment.
The Near Detector is located at Fermilab, close to the neutrino source,
and the Far Detector at Soudan mine in Northern Minessota (735 km
away).
The heart of the oscillation measurement (along with its precision)
lies in
the comparison between the Near and Far Detector Neutrino Spectra.
The final oscillation analysis uses the so-called "Beam Matrix Method".
The "Beam Matrix Method" is a very powerful technique that takes full
advantage of the Near Detector Data in order to predict the
unoscillated
Far Detector Spectrum and obtain the final oscillation result with
minimal dependence on the main sources of systematic uncertainties:
Beam
and Cross Section Modelling.
