Title:
"The Minerva Experiment"
Abstract:
The MINERvA experiment, a collaboration of high energy and nuclear
physicists, employs a compact and fully active detector for a
dedicated study of neutrino interactions off multiple nuclear targets
at Fermilab. The detector will be located in the MINOS near detector
hall at Fermilab allowing it to take full advantage of the well-
known, high flux of the the NuMI beamline. This will allow for high
statistics measurements of neutrino-nucleus cross-sections to be made
in unprecedented detail. By using targets of He, C, Fe and Pb, a
first study of neutrino induced nuclear effects will also be
possible. These results will help present and future neutrino
oscillation experiments determine the incoming neutrino energy and
separate oscillation backgrounds from signal.
