Title: "The Search for Sterile Neutrinos in MINOS"

Abstract:

There is strong evidence for neutrino flavor change both in vacuum and in matter from observation of charged-current (CC) neutrino interactions. These observations of flavor change can be described by neutrino oscillations, indicating that neutrinos have mass. The origin of neutrino mass may be the result of mixing between active neutrinos, which couple to the Z boson, and sterile neutrinos which do not. The long baseline design of MINOS allows it to search for sterile neutrinos by comparing the rates of neutral-current (NC) interactions in its two detectors.
