Title:
"Electron Cloud Studies at the Main Injector"
Abstract:
The electron cloud is a collective phenomenon that has limited the
performance of high-current, positive-particle accelerators. The Main
Injector already accelerates a significant amount of charge, and
potential upgrades could increase this number by a factor of five. We
report on a program of measurements and simulations of the Main Injector
to understand the electron cloud phenomenon, and how it might affect the
Main Injector's future. This work is done in the Fermilab Accelerator
Division, and in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
