Tim Tait's statement: Fermilab is a crucial resource in the US High Energy Physics effort. It is currently the only national lab whose main focus is devoted to high energy physics. It is imperative that it remain vibrant and active for the health of the US and the worldwide programs in HEP. This is a particularly important time for Fermilab. The Tevatron program is winding down after decades of success, and the energy frontier is moving to the LHC. There is an important balance between Tevatron activities and the successes that continue to come in from CDF and D0 and the shift to effort based on data from the LHC, which we expect will be crucial in order to fully understand the nature of mass. In addition, Fermilab must carefully choose its future projects such that it can continue to be a leader in particle physics, and insure the continuation of experimental HEP in the US by doing important scientific research. I am passionate about both Fermilab, and particle physics, and I feel acutely the need to promote both, in order to answer the fundamental questions that remain in the Standard Model era, insure the health of HEP in the US and the wider world, and to maintain the attendant expertise in science and technology.
