Alan Stone UEC Statement: I want to step up and be a more active citizen within the Fermilab community as a member of the UEC. I would bring to the UEC at least a few skills and some experiences that will be useful. I spent two years on the D0 Advisory Council, in which we addressed many D0-specific and lab-centric topics. As a homeowner in Aurora for several years, I have been a board member of a homeowner's association, in which we meet with disgruntled homeowners, management company and representatives of the community (police, alderman, etc.). The LHC@FNAL ROC has become a popular destination for tour groups and visitors alike. We use the ROC as an outreach tool to communicate about CMS, LHC and remote operations. In one recent week, I gave tours to school children, high school teachers, fellow scientists and members of government. It is always worth the effort when you see the spark of understanding in the eyes, and then the fun begins when they start asking questions! As this is my ninth year at Fermilab, I have come to know and work with a large fraction of the user community, whether they are local or visitors. It would be a privilege to represent them on the UEC.
