Mitchell Soderberg Statement: The next members of the Users Executive Committee will serve during an important time period for Fermilab and high-energy physics. During their tenure the Tevatron is tentatively scheduled to end its run, the LHC will begin its run, and the Fermilab Steering Group will release a so-called "strategic roadmap" detailing the direction of the lab in the interim before the ILC era. This roadmap, based on the recommendations of the EPP2010 National Academy report, the P5 subpanel of HEPAP, the NuSAG report, as well as input from the physicist community, will have a significant impact on the future of the lab and the research programs carried out here. There is the potential for Fermilab to become involved in many exciting areas of research. During this time of transition in the lab's focus, it will be important to have an engaged and diverse UEC to represent the response of the user community to the roadmap. It is vital that during this period the UEC members do all they can to ensure the continued success of Fermilab, and any new projects it undertakes, through their outreach efforts with the public and through continued dialogue with Congress members in Washington who have the ability to effect policy. As someone who lived at Fermilab while doing their graduate work on CDF, and who is now involved in neutrino experiments as a postdoc, I understand the needs of many of the users at Fermilab and am qualified to work at representing those needs. If elected, I look forward to serving on the UEC and helping Fermilab stay an exciting and prominent place to do physics for many years to come.
