Candidate's Statement - Ashutosh Kotwal These are very exciting times for particle physics. There is optimism that we are poised for discoveries and measurements that will revolutionize our view of the ultra-small. Astrophysics and cosmology are linking it with the world of the ultra-large, adding more fuel to the fire of human imagination. Even as the LHC ramps up towards data-taking, Fermilab continues to be a centerpiece of this worldwide enterprise. The ongoing physics program at Fermilab provides a strong platform from which to launch future initiatives and maintain the vitality of the US HEP program. The Users Executive Committee can help the Laboratory management to plan and implement the next steps, and to carry this positive message to our benefactors in government and the public. I firmly believe that, while resources are limited, the Fermilab program has supporters who are willing to put available resources where a high physics return on investment exists. Fermilab has a strong case, and as a member of the UEC, I will strive to make this case convincingly to our partners.
