Morgan O. Wascko Statement: This is a critical time for Fermilab. We are currently the flagship facility for HEP research in the world, but will lose that distinction with the turn-on of the LHC within the next two years. We are currently building an extensive neutrino program that must be a success if the lab is to survive. At the same time, Fermilab will actively pursue ILC R&D as we strive to become the host lab for that facility, thus regaining the lead role in HEP research in the post-LHC era. All of this occurs within the context of shrinking budgets and increased security concerns, which each have adverse impacts on the user community at Fermilab and scientific research within the U.S. as a whole. I believe it is crucial to the success of the lab and its users that the opinions and needs of the users be well represented during this time, and that we help guide the directorate towards the future that is best for the field. The UEC has taken great steps towards improving our situation in the past few years, but we have a lot of work yet to do. As a university researcher permanently stationed at Fermilab, I see the needs of both groups, and will work to improve the future for all users at Fermilab.
