K. Wyatt Merritt Education: B. S. Clemson University, 1973 Ph. D. California Institute of Technology, 1980 Positions Held: Postdoctoral Associate, University of Chicago, 1980 - 1982 Postdoctoral Associate, Fermilab, 1982 - 1986 Associate Scientist, Fermilab, 1986 - 1993 Scientist I, Fermilab, 1993 - 1999 Scientist II, Fermilab, 1999 - present Research Activities: My graduate studies were carried out on Fermilab experiments, first in the E21 series of neutrino experiments and then in a study of hadronic charm production - E379. My first postdoctoral position was with E615, a study of Drell-Yan production. I joined the Fermilab staff as a postdoc in 1982, working in the Lab E neutrino program. I worked on the building and testing of large drift chambers for E744, and also on same-sign dimuon analysis. Then I became a Fermilab Associate Scientist in 1986, working on the DØ experiment. I have remained on DØ since then, becoming a Scientist I in 1993 and a Scientist II in 1999. For DØ in Run I, I have worked on online monitoring software, simulation with GEANT3, and physics analysis (searches for New Phenomena beyond the Standard Model). I served as convenor of the New Phenomena group for 2 years. For Run II at DØ, I was in charge of Computing and Software for 6 years, and then worked in the area of Data Handling, as SAMGrid project co-leader for the last 2 years. Currently, I am working on the Dark Energy Survey, learning about astrophysics and cosmology while contributing to the data acquisition system for CCD testing at Fermilab and to general software infrastructure. I also plan to continue on DØ, working on a Run II analysis project.
