Northern Pearly-eye (Enodia
anthedon)
Fermilab, ELM-27 (Indian Creek Woods) Kane County, Illinois July 3, 2002 Northern Pearly-eye is a bit
unusual for
a butterfly in that it likes the shady woods. They often perch on
tree trunks. This fresh individual had particularly rich
colors. Pearly-eyes are more typically shades of plain brown,
like below. |
