Site map of this area.
Located south of Batavia road on the east side of the site, this is probably
the best all year location on site for birding. It is also the area most
accessible to the general public. The area consists of three man-made lakes and
the scrubby fields between them. It lies just south of the Village which is a
residential area for visiting scientists located along Batavia rd on the east
side of the site. Fermilab has recently declared this a "Bird Watching Area"
and, during times of low National Security Alert, will issue Birding Passes so
that the public can access it. The following links give more detail about what
can be seen where in this area.
