The Kerberos included with Mac OS X 10.1 is a development version, essentially equivalent to the Kerberos for Macintosh 4.0a18 release (although the version number will display as 4.0a17). Mac OS X 10.1's Kerberos includes the Kerberos framework, user-level command line utilities, and a pre-release version of the Kerberos login authenticator. For basic Kerberos functionality, you must install a Kerberos configuration file customized for your site in /Library/Preferences . *Please* follow the directions on the following page, especially concerning location and the name of the file: To use the Mac OS X 10.1 Kerberos with existing CFM-based GUI applications such as Eudora or Fetch, you will need to copy the bridge libraries from the most recent MIT KfM 4.0 releases into /System/Library/CFMSupport . We are considering developing an installer to address this specific need. The Kerberos management application from the most recent MIT KfM 4.0 release will work with the Mac OS X 10.1 Kerberos once the bridge libraries are installed. For more information, including information on how to enable the login authenticator, please see the Kerberos on Mac OS X FAQ page: - --The MIT MacDev Team ------- End of Forwarded Message
