Loading Tapes into Drives

The load command is used to get a tape from a slot into a drive, The load command will accept a jukebox specifier, a drive location, and a slot location, and will take the tape from the latter and put it into the drive. All of these will default to the current default jukebox, slot, and drive if they are not specified. Like all juke commands this can be done with the juke interactive mode, or from the command line.

% setup juke
% juke -j laa
> list

default slot: s0
default port: p0

In this example we used the load command and took the defaults, we could also have changed the defaults and loaded the tape, or specified the locations to use on the command line. The first would look like:

% setup juke
% juke
> set jukebox=laa
> set slot=5
> set drive=0
> load
> list
default drive: d0
default slot: s0
default port: p0
NAME WHERE HOPS DATE
fnsfc.Mon.A slot 0 0 Tue Jun 29 18:37:49 1993
fnsfb.Mon.A slot 1 0 Tue Jun 29 18:37:57 1993
fnsfa.Mon.A slot 2 0 Tue Jun 29 18:31:13 1993
fnsfg.Mon.A slot 3 2 Tue Jun 29 18:31:09 1993
fnsfg.Tue.A slot 4 4 Thu Jun 24 11:21:10 1993
(empty) slot 5 14 Thu Jun 24 11:21:11 1993
fnsfg.Thu.A slot 6 8 Thu Jun 24 11:21:12 1993
fnsfg.Fri.A slot 7 0 Mon Jul 12 13:13:51 1993
fnsfg.Sat.A slot 8 8 Thu Jun 24 11:21:14 1993
fnsfg.Sun.A slot 9 4 Thu Jun 24 11:21:14 1993

... and the second like:

% setup juke
% juke -j laa
> load slot 5 drive 0
> list
default drive: d0
default slot: s0
default port: p0
NAME WHERE HOPS DATE
fnsfc.Mon.A slot 0 0 Tue Jun 29 18:37:49 1993

fnsfg.Fri.A slot 7 0 Mon Jul 12 13:13:51 1993
fnsfg.Sat.A slot 8 8 Thu Jun 24 11:21:14 1993

...or finally, we could refer to the drive and tape by name, as in:

% setup juke
% juke -j laa
> load fnsfg.Wed.A drive /dev/rmt/tps0d3nrnsv
> list

% setup juke
% juke load -j laa -d /dev/rmt/tps0d3 fnsfg.Wed.A
