Chapter 4: Shells
On many systems at Fermilab, tcsh is used as the default shell. The Computing Division currently supports csh, tcsh, sh, bash and ksh. tcsh or bash is recommended for interactive use, and sh for scripts. (The C shell family is not recommended for scripts due to inconsistent syntax at different levels of nesting.) zsh is not currently supported.
