Communication Director
As Communication Director, I am responsible for the management and direction of the laboratory’s communications and public relations activities. I ensure that Fermilab communicates its mission, programs, projects and activities to employees, scientific users, the local and regional community, members of the media, and the national public.
As owner of the Communication Management System, I ensure that the laboratory’s public information and public relations activities are proactive, accurate and effective, and that they help Fermilab carry out its mission with support from stakeholders. I ensure that internal communication supports efficient functioning of the laboratory. As head of the Office of Communication, I direct the laboratory’s public information and public relations activities, including print and online publications, public websites and social media, media and community relations and public exhibits. I also have line responsibility for the functioning of the Visual Media Services department, including photography, video, design and duplicating services.
Prior to becoming Communication Director in 2011, I spent four years as a Fermilab employee stationed at the CERN laboratory in Switzerland, communicating the U.S. participation in the Large Hadron Collider project. I received my Ph.D. in nuclear physics from Michigan State University in 2003.
