The Good Lovelies are not your run-of-the-mill “all girl” band. At a time when too many of us are affected by gloom, doom and recovering from recession, these three women are the perfect antidote. Winners of the 2010 Juno Award ( Canadian Grammy) for Roots Album of the Year and the New Emerging Artist Award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards—the Good Lovelies are making waves across Canada, with bookings in place throughout the United States for their first foray in 2011-2012.

The aptly named Good Lovelies are Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore, all of them best friends and refugees from solo careers. Part folk-roots, part Western Swing, the Toronto-based trio relies on unerring three-part vocal harmonies, clever songs, and, on stage, convulsively funny repartee drawn from a seemingly endless succession of comedic adventures on the road.

The Good Lovelies played their first show in December of 2006. Since then, they have quit their day jobs, toured coast to coast numerous times, played countless house concerts, festivals, folk clubs and coffeehouses, and released three albums. The first album, released in 2007, is a five-track EP, called Oh My! and features the playful single “Taboo.” In January 2009, the Good Lovelies released their first full-length, self-titled CD which contains 11 finely-crafted original songs. The album borrows styles from bygone eras and features CBC Radio favorite, “Sleepwalkin.”

In November 2009, the Good Lovelies released a twelve track Christmas album, Under The Mistletoe, which includes three original Christmas songs as well as a number of old classics. The album got great reviews in the Globe & Mail, and Toronto's NOW magazine. In the Spring of 2011, the Good Lovelies released their 3rd CD, Let The Rain Fall, and have been touring ever since, from Canada to the UK to Australia and a series of major festivals and theaters in the US in Summer 2011. The reviews have been ecstatic, to say the least.

And moving forward? Well. There's a huge country south of Canada that's just beginning to experience laughter, Good Lovelies-style, and another dose of hopeful goodwill from their northern neighbors. With September 2011 showcases at the Fine Arts regional conferences, followed by a slew of coast-to-coast bookings, the Lovelies' endless road trip is getting a whole lot more interesting!
